Melody's Hope for Children Tailgate Raises Over $62,000

Over 300 people came together for Melody’s Hope for Children Tailgate on September 30th, in support of the American Family Children’s Hospital. This tailgate, which took place for the Badgers vs Northwestern Football game, raised more than $62,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations.

Melody Hope was an associate and owner of Hausmann-Johnson Insurance for 23 years. She loved children and one of her greatest desires in retirement was to volunteer in a children’s hospital. Sadly, she never had the chance as she lost her fight with cancer in August of 2015. Because Melody never had that chance to volunteer in retirement, Hausmann-Johnson Insurance hosts this tailgate in her memory on behalf of the American Family Children’s Hospital.

“We’ve called Madison home for 70 years. From the beginning we’ve made sure that our community stays strong. The American Family Children’s Hospital is a state-of-art facility right here. Through new FDA approved technologies, they're saving the lives of children with cancer every day.” says Leslie Osman, Hausmann-Johnson Insurance's Marketing Director. "We're honored to be their partner and help however we can."

Leading up to the tailgate, Hausmann-Johnson Insurance invited associates and business partners to participate in  "Project Melody" - a campaign to collect handmade blankets, hats, and new books to donate to patients at the American Family Children's Hospital. Over 75 new blankets were donated, along with stacks of new books and hats.

Hausmann-Johnson Insurance is recognized as one of the country’s best workplaces by Fortune. "Our business starts with the community we serve. This tailgate is just one way we're able to give back." says Barry Richter, President.
